You are unaware of what you are unaware, unless you are made aware of what you are unaware!
You may have heard this quote, “ You are the average of the five people you spend most of your time with.” – Jim Rohn. So, if you want to be a business owner or an Entrepreneur, you now know whom you have to spend your time with. You need to be intentional about who you are spending most of your time with. So take a look around and make sure that you’re in the right surroundings.
Now most people are looking to start their own business but don’t know where to start. Here are 5 Reasons why people don’t start a business or are not able to transition from their existing businesses.
(1) Entrepreneurship is hard – People believe that Entrepreneurship is hard, they think it is something big and very complicated and they can’t figure it out and be successful.
One of the reasons for this is that media portrays Entrepreneurship in terms of people like Richard Branson, he is a great role model, but what we forget is every single day there are people just like you who go figure it out, what is it that I can add value to this world. They go and figure it out what value they can add to other people’s lives and they start adding that value and get paid for, and it’s not hard when you think about it.
You just need to think “What is the value that I can add to this world and then find those people who want that value and change their lives. Just think, what do you do, who needs that and how would it help them. So don’t think of it as hard, all you have to do is a series of small simple steps consistently every single day.
(2) It’s risky – We tend to think that if we want to start a business, we need to take a loan or mortgage our house and we have to do something big and drastic. And then jump off the cliff and hope that it will be successful. Well, that is one way of starting a business, many people do it that way and are successful but most of them fail. But you don’t have to start a business that way.
You can start a business in a different way by figuring it out wat value you can add to this world, how can you change people’s lives and then go start a conversation. Find out what they want and need and then create it for them, it’s simple.
(3) Selling – Oh my god, I’m not a salesman, I cannot sell anything and I haven’t sold anything. Well, you don’t need to any of that. All you need to do is figure it out, what value we can add, who wants that and provide that to them. So now, rather than selling some big scary thing or call people up and asking them to buy your thing! It’s just a continuation of a conversation and solving a problem you already know exists and then offering them a solution. Again, if you think starting a business requires cold calling or approaching family and friends, please stop thinking that. If starting a business required cold calling, I wouldn’t be doing that, nobody wants to cold call. So, it’s they coming to you for what you have instead of you having to go pounding on their door selling!
(4) I Don’t know anything about Business – I don’t know anything about business or I don’t know how to create a business or I’m not an expert on Entrepreneurship. Well, the cool thing is that you don’t have to be. The cool thing about Entrepreneurship is nobody knows how to do it when they get started, we all jump in and figure it out along the way. So don’t think it’s too hard or you can’t do it, because it’s not real, so get that thought out of your head.
(5) I Don’t have any idea– So many people don’t start a business because they think they don’t have an idea. The way that successful businesses are created, is not from brilliant ideas, now that happens occasionally, they are exceptions, not a norm.
The normal way that successful businesses are created is that people start a conversation with people who are interested in what they have to offer and they find out what is it that they want and then they create it. So, you don’t come up with an idea but your potential customers tell you what they want, so you don’t have to have an idea.
